Jean Theobold Jacus was an award-winning French abstract artist. He studied at the Beaux-Arts Academies in Reims and Paris. He served as professor for Design and Painting at the Académie des Beaux-Arts of the city of Paris, and was named Peintre de l'Air et de l'Espace (Official Painter Of Air & Space) in 1987. He obtained a travel grant for Holland and made other painting trips to Italy, England, Switzerland and the United States. He exhibited in numerous groups, notably at the salon of painters of their time, in Paris. His figurative compositions are often imbued with the fantastic, but was also a painter of still lifes and landscapes. He was best known for his urban & industrial landscapes. This amazing oil painting was exhibited through Galerie R. Ferrero at the Hotel De Ville, Geneva in 1960. It was acquired originally by prominent Jewish-Australian leader, accountant & music administrator, Charles Josef Berg (1917-1988).
