Abrams was an important South African Post-War artist, born in Johannesburg. He was a prolific abstract artist during the 1960s and 1970s, and has been compared to Francis Bacon, Howard Hodgkins, & Gerard Sekoto. He also was a renowned teacher, instructing several South African artists who enjoyed success. His first verified exhibition was 5ª Bienal Do Museu De Arte Moderna De São Paulo at Bienal de Sao Paulo in São Paulo in 1959. He frequently exhibited in South Africa, but also had exhibitions in Brazil. Other notable exhibitions were at Standard Bank Gallery in Johannesburg and Ebony Curated in Cape Town. He is represented in several important institutions including the South African National Art Gallery in Cape Town and Unisa Art Gallery in Pretoria.
